With 200 guests in attendance Nazareth Housing raised over $190,000 at its Annual Benefit to End Homeless on October 27th.
The event, which was held at the Harvard Club, honored Deborah VanAmerogen former New York State Commissioner of the Division of Housing and Community Renewal, and currently Strategic Policy Advisor at Nixon Peabody LLP. VanAmerongen was honored for her long standing work in preservation and development of affordable housing across New York State. Brian Lawlor, Commission and CEO of New York State Homes and community Renewal presented Deborah VanAmerongen with the 2010 Honoree Award. Ms. VanAmerongen addressed the crowd and praised the effectiveness and commitment of Nazareth Housing in its mission.
New York Cares was also honored with the Nazareth Housing Community Service Award for its work to inspire and facilitate volunteerism in New York. For over a decade, New York Cares volunteers have supported a variety of youth programs in Nazareth Housing’s L3 Kids (Live-Learn- Lead) programs. Gary Bagley, NY Cares Executive Director, accepted the award and expressed the deep appreciation of the staff of New York Cares “We love Nazareth Housing!”
“In the face of a very demanding social environment, what makes our work in housing and supportive services stand out is that at Nazareth Housing, we have a heart for people”, stated Michael Callaghan, Executive Director of Nazareth Housing. “The past year has been one of growth while continuing to stretch our resources with the ongoing support and the collaboration of our many partners and supporters, we will continue to pursue our mission to prevent and end homelessness.”
The Benefit received continued support from donors as well as corporations such as Estee Lauder Companies, Omni New York, Nixon Peabody, Keefe, Bruyette & Woods, Inc. and many others.
