EVENT

TITLE:
Advocacy Event to Address CMS Funding Cuts
WHEN:
03.06.2013
Category:
NYNP Events

DESCRIPTION

Critical services lost, massive layoffs, and an “overall shift in a culture of high-quality, person-centered care to a culture of merely meeting very basic needs” (as quoted by Scott Mehlberg, Acting Executive Director of Abilities First) are central to the intense discussion among families and agencies as New York State proposes 6% in budget cuts to agencies serving one of the most vulnerable populations, individuals with developmental disabilities.

Thus, five agencies have launched an advocacy campaign to fight for their program participants and families (Abilities First, Cardinal Hayes, Dutchess ARC, New Horizons Resources, and Greystone Programs).

Please join us for the advocacy campaign launch event, open to the public, for a forum which will address the issues of care and delivery of services, the potential for massive job losses, and the overall impact of the proposed cuts.

When: Wednesday, March 6th, 6:30 PM

Where: New Horizons Resources, Inc.
123 West Road, Pleasant Valley, NY

Event Contact:  Crys McCuin, Executive Director, Dutchess ARC   (845) 635-8084
