Hudson River Housing Announces 2012 Annual Meeting & Community Builder Award
Hudson River Housing will hold its Annual Meeting on Thursday, February 16th from 12 – 2pm at the Cunneen-Hackett Theater. The meeting is open to the public. The event will be the first public appearance by the agency’s new Executive Director, Ed Murphy, who will present “State of the Agency” remarks. Mr. Murphy replaced Gail Webster, who retired in December. Mr. Murphy had been the Associate Executive Director for Real Estate Development at Hudson River Housing since 2007, and was previously the Director of Planning and Development for the City of Poughkeepsie.
The meeting is also the kick-off of Hudson River Housing’s 30th anniversary. Since its founding in 1982, the agency has developed 675 units of emergency, transitional and permanent housing, and currently manages over 750 housing units throughout the Mid-Hudson Valley. Through two dozen programs, services for people of all walks of life, from the chronically homeless to those looking to purchase a home, are offered. In recognition of its 30th anniversary, Hudson River Housing is currently running a campaign to raise $30,000 for its Wind Chill Fund, which provides operating support to essential programs that serve the homeless. More information is available at www.hudsonriverhousing.org.
Hudson River Housing has also announced that Roy Budnik will receive the 2012 Community Builder Award. Mr. Budnik is a long-time community activist, who has worked tirelessly to improve the quality of life in Poughkeepsie and surrounding areas. He currently operates the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center, located at 317 Main Street in Poughkeepsie. The mission of the Mid-Hudson Heritage Center is to promote a better awareness and appreciation of the history and heritage of the region through the operation of a physical exhibition center, alliances with other historical and cultural organizations, and collaboration with County tourism offices and the travel industry. Mr. Budnik will be presented with his award during the Annual Meeting.
The public is invited to attend the Annual Meeting. To RSVP, please contact (845) 454-5176 by February 10th. Light refreshments from Kavos Gyros will be served following the program. A $5 donation is requested.
