Jeffrey L. Reynolds, Ph.D. has been appointed as the Executive Director of the Long Island Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Inc. (LICADD).

Reynolds comes to LICADD with extensive senior nonprofit management experience and is a well-known and respected public health advocate. He co-founded, and most recently served as the Chief Operating Officer of BiasHELP of Long Island and worked for ten years as Vice President for Public Affairs at the Long Island Association for AIDS Care (LIAAC). Reynolds holds a Masters in Public Administration from Long Island University and a doctorate in social welfare from Stony Brook University.

“Dr. Reynolds brings a broad foundation of senior management expertise through over twenty years of diverse experience providing frontline services, mobilizing communities and managing many programs for success,” said Board Chair Curtis Webster. “With over 70 applicants for the position of executive director, we are grateful to have such a caring and energetic person assume the helm of our wonderful organization. We would like to thank the Long Island Center for Nonprofit Leadership at Adelphi University - especially Catherine Papandrew and Ann Marie Thigpen - for their leadership and assistance in the search.”

“LICADD is a phenomenal organization with a dedicated and dynamic board of directors, a committed and talented staff, and a 53-year history of saving lives on Long Island. I am honored to have been chosen to lead the agency into its next phase of expansion and growth,” said Reynolds. “As heroin use among young people skyrockets, DWI arrests and deaths continue to plague our region, and the use of alcohol and other drugs continues to devastate Long Island’s families, LICADD’s steadfast mission and imaginative programs have never been more vital,” he added.

Reynolds will formally assume his responsibilities at LICADD on March 23, 2009.
