Marlene Cintron has been elected to be the new President of the Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation. “Marlene will be my point person in our efforts to build and grow the Bronx economy,” said Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. in announcing the appointment. “Marlene is an attorney whose decades of experience at companies like Merrill Lynch and Citibank, in state and federal government, and in the not-for-profit sector make her the perfect individual to lead the BOEDC into the new decade, and I look forward to working with her to outline an aggressive economic development strategy for the Bronx.” “The Bronx Overall Economic Development Corporation is a very important organization, and I am thrilled to be its new president,” said Cintron. “I look forward to working with business leaders from all corners of the Bronx, the City and the entire region to develop innovative new ways to grow the borough’s economy.” Cintron most recently served as Executive Director of the New York State’s Puerto Rican and Latino Caucus. Prior to that, she was Chief Financial Officer at International Immigrants Foundation from 2007 to 2008 and President of the Resource Center for Community Development from 2001 to 2007. Her private sector financial experience includes having served as a Senior Financial Advisor with the Merrill Lynch Private Client Group from 1996 to 2001 and as Vice President for Governmental Relations at Citibank NA from 1985 to 1991. Cintron’s government service also includes stints as Regional Director for the Puerto Rico Federal Affairs Administration, Executive Director of the NYC Mayor’s Office of Latino Affairs and Executive Director for U.S. Congressman Robert Garcia. Citron holds a JD from Georgetown University Law Center, a Masters Degree in Education Administration from Fordham University, amd a B.A. in Urban Studies from SUNY Old Westbury.
