Thursday, 11 February 2010 17:41

NYS Medicaid Inspector General James G. Sheehan – the OMIG – faced tough questions regarding his office’s aggressive approach to provider audits and recoupment practices at a Joint Legislative Budget Hearing on Tuesday.

In a particularly tense exchange, Senator Craig M. Johnson (D – Nassau) questioned the fairness and openness of OMIG’s audit practices and took Sheehan to task for failing repay $900,000 in recoupments to one provider who had won an appeal of OMIG’s audit findings.
