EDUCATION DIRECTOR

Kennedy Child Study Center’s mission is to assist young children experiencing significant difficulty in critical areas of early childhood development such as cognition and learning, mobility, speech and communication, and social relations. Due to retirement, we are conducting a search for an Education Director at our pre-school in the Bronx, NY.

The Education Director must have a thorough understanding of child development and preschool assessments. The chosen candidate will direct and shape the pre-school curriculum and teaching process, utilizing guidelines set forth in the New York State Common Core foundation. S/he must have strong interpersonal and supervisory skills as the Education Director is responsible for the supervision of all preschool staff and maintaining a working relationship with CPSE administrators. S/he must ensure and maintain a safe and healthy learning environment.

The Education Director will be responsible for all of the administrative and educational functions of the pre-school, including but not limited to hiring and maintaining applicable staff ratios; monitoring mandates and ensuring IEP compliance; overseeing enrollment numbers; developing staff in-service trainings; representing the agency at meetings and community coalitions; monitoring school bus service and liaising between the New York City Department of Transportation, the bus company and parents; and all other duties assigned by the Chief Operating Officer and Executive Director.

Qualified candidates will have previous supervisory experience and thorough knowledge of the CPSE process and the rules and regulations of the New York City Department of Health (Article 47). The ideal candidate will also have strong advocacy skills.  A Master’s degree in Special Education and School Building Leadership certification is required along with  3- 5 years experience as Pre-school Administrator for children with special needs.
