Boys Town New York has a new home. The organization is now located at 281 Park Ave South, 5th floor (New York, New York, 10010) at the corner of E 22nd Street. With its growing program and youth base, the non-profit will benefit greatly from the larger space and a location closer to government agencies and other non-profit groups.
“We are thrilled to move to an office more conducive to our mission in New York City,” said Cynthia Armijo, Executive Director of Boys Town New York. “This new location is within easy access of our city partners and donors and is conveniently located on the main transportation lines, so that we can better serve our employees and our clients. This historic building has conference and board rooms which will also afford us an opportunity to hold meetings related to child welfare and classes like Common Sense Parenting for our families.”
The building housing the new office is known as the Protestant Welfare Agencies Building. Built between 1892 and 1894, it was designated as a New York City landmark in 1979 and added to the National Registry of Historic Places in 1982. The office space inside the building is leased only to non-profit organizations and will allow Boys Town New York to further integrate into the non-profit community of New York City.
"The move increased our office size and afforded us a cost savings," noted Alvin Sinkler, the site's Financial Officer. "Other benefits include a central reception and meeting area and a secure, private environment in which to meet our clients."
Opened in 1990, Boys Town New York offers hope and healing to troubled children and families through Intervention and Assessment Homes, Residential Placement Homes, Alternative to Detention Program and In-Home Family Services. Boys Town New York serves a culturally diverse population of adolescents from all five boroughs of New York City.
