More than 400 guests attended SCO Family of Services’ annual gala, the Shepherd’s Ball, at Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury, NY on Friday, November 18th. The event raised over $526,000 to help provide vital services for over 40,000 children and families throughout New York City and Long Island.
The Shepherd’s Award, SCO’s highest honor, was presented to Monte N. Redman, President and Chief Executive Officer of Astoria Financial Corporation and Astoria Federal Savings, for his deep commitment to strengthening local communities and to assisting vulnerable children and their families. For more than 25 years, Astoria Federal has supported the work of SCO Family of Services, helping the organization to grow and meet changing needs.
“We are deeply grateful to all of the individuals and businesses who helped make this event such a success. It truly shows what the word “community” is all about,” said Gail B. Nayowith, SCO Family of Services Executive Director.
The theme for the ball was “Success doesn’t just happen.” Festivities held throughout the evening included dinner, dancing, a silent auction and a casino.
