The Bridge held their Opening Art Exhibition/Reception at The Museum of Modern Art on Tuesday evening.  Over 150 people attended the event which was designed to promote the Bridge Art Program. The Exhibit will be on display from October 4th through October 30st, 2011 at 4 West 54th Street, New York City.

“We are delighted with this outpouring of interest and support for The Bridge Art Program,” said Dr. Peter Beitchman, Executive Director. Speakers at the event included MoMA’s Carrie McGee, Bridge Board President Cynthia Wainwright, and Judy Rosenthal, the Director of The Bridge Art Program.  This was followed by two Bridge Group Artists speaking about their work and the importance and benefits of art in their lives.    It was announced that a “Friends of The Bridge Group Art Program” is being started in order to support the program.

The Bridge, a New York City mental health, rehabilitation and housing agency has formed an exciting partnership with The Museum of Modern Art.  The Bridge, founded 57 years ago, is a leading mental health, rehabilitation and housing agency that has achieved a national reputation of excellence and innovation.  The Bridge works with close to 2,000 adults each year who have serious mental illness, substance abuse disorders and the homeless.  Over the years, it has developed a highly recognized, award-winning art program that has evolved out of art therapy into something exceptional.
