The Federation of Protestant Welfare Agencies presented its Keystone Awards to Judy Willig of Heights & Hill Community Council, and Verona Middleton-Jeter of Henry Street Settlement at its 2009 Annual Conference, which was held on Monday at NYU's Kimmel Hall. The conference, titled Possibilities and Opportunities: Positive Responses to Uncertain Times, featured two consecutive panel discussions and a luncheon with a keynote address by journalist Errol Louis, New York Daily News columnist and WWRL radio host. The conference was attended by over 280 agency executives, faith-based service providers, city officials, and other human services representatives.
The first panel, “Creative Responses to Challenges: Downsizing, Mergers and Restructuring to Change Services” was moderated by Linda Manley, Esq., Director of Legal Services, Lawyers Alliance for New York, and featured panelists Jacqueline Edwards, Adolescent and Family Comprehensive Services; Stephan Russo, Goddard-Riverside Community Center; and Dr. Robert Maher, St. Christopher’s Inc.
The second panel, “Funder’s Perspective in Fiscal Crisis: How Funders Are Responding to the Financial Crisis and Emerging Trends”, was moderated by Stephanie Palmer, Executive Director of the New York Mission Society, and featured panelists Joyce M. Bove, New York Community Trust; Eric Weingartner, Robin Hood Foundation, Mike C. Pratt, The Scherman Foundation, and Vince Morgan, TD Bank. FPWA’s 2009 Annual Conference was sponsored by TD Bank.
